When the COVID-19 lockdown went into effect and all of our interactions became mediated by the screen I wanted to find new ways to make physical my digital / screen based art. These works explore procedural and generative systems that are generated algorithmically via code and plotted using high quality archival ink and paper.

Founded by Ajay Kapur, The Machine Orchestra combines the idea of a laptop orchestra with musical robotics. The core lineup of performers changes on a yearly basis, with guest artists including Trimpin, Curtis Bahn, Tomie Hahn, and Perry R. I have been involved with the Machine Orchestra as a composer, performer, and instrument designer (creating Tammy, a robotic marimba instrument, together with collaborator Owen Vallis). The ensemble actively performes internationally, with concerts in Los Angeles to New Zealand. More information can be found at www.karmetik.com
